Dancing Dragons?
What's up with that?
Spirit Wind Internal Arts Society has grown wings...and claws! We've developed into a performance group and are preparing for our third Dance of the Dragon show. The next event will be about the legends of Tai Chi, Kung Fu and Dragon Dancing. Dragon Dancing, a martial art called Pa Kua Chang - 8 Trigram Palms is really popular with our group. Sunday's class boasts 53 members! Pa Kua is a highly sophisticated fighting form utilized today by police and body guards in China, and by the Texas Rangers here in the US. It's both powerful and beautiful to perform and to watch. In our next show, the forms will be choreographed to readings of the legends, with drums, bells and flutes keeping the beat. Look for more about the shows on page 6 of this newsletter.... and watch for dates and locations of upcoming events. Our first performances were sold out - see you at the next show!

Spirit Wind Internal Arts Society continues to grow. Many new members joined this past year, and we even have a new school! Kathi Benard, an old student of mine, runs 'Spirit Wind East' in Trenton, New Jersey. They're off to a strong start with 20 members in just 10 months. It's been an exciting year, we're all looking forward to another! Chik Qadir
